Hiking and Walking
Lindani is meant for hiking. The topography offers the hiker a wide range of visual and physical experiences – vistas, mountains, valleys, perennial streams, kloofs, towering sandstone cliffs, open savannah bushveld, lichen covered rock formations and a variety of large bushveld trees. The ascents and descents are enough to stretch the legs without being intimidating. Trails are kept clear to acceptable standards and are well marked. A map with contours and profiles is provided.
There are four circular Green Flag Status trails enabling hikers to return to their accommodation. For those who want to walk longer distances, the trails are linked in a manner that makes this possible. See below the four trails and route profiles. It is not necessary to be a serious hiker to enjoy walking at Lindani. The varied scenery offers plenty for those looking to walk shorter distances than the Hiking Trails. By combining portions of the hiking trails with the farm roads, it is possible to access some of the best corners of the farm. The map provided will make planning a walk very easy. For those who prefer it, guided walks are available.
The four trails are:
- Melkrivier Trail – 11.2kms, moderately difficult, nearest houses are Motseng, Loft and Thabeng.
- Mountail Trail – 10.1kms, moderately difficult, nearest houses are Bush Camp, Maroela and Molope.
- Kloof Trail – 7.3kms, easy, nearest houses are Stone House and Bush Camp.
- Koperspruit Trail – 7.6kms, easy, nearest houses are Stone House, Loft, Thabeng and Motseng.
Lindani offers special rates to hiking clubs that opt to bring a large group to stay at one of the bigger lodges.
